Empowering Women in Engineering
WHAT IS SEDS x FEM x TR?
Partnering with UCSD’s Formula SAE Team, Triton Racing, the Female Engineering Mentorship focuses on providing opportunities to and increasing the retention of young engineers of diverse gender backgrounds. Paired with a SEDS or TR mentor, members of each year’s cohort will work on technical project teams, get continued support throughout their education, and benefit from the community’s collective experiences. Once in the program, our members attend weekly community discussions, have a one-on-one mentor, and attend talks by industry and academia speakers.
Apply To Join
For students looking to join SEDSxFEMxTR, please submit a SEDSxFEMxTR application on our Recruitment page. You are also welcome to submit a General SEDS Application if you are interested in joining SEDS at UCSD.
Why is SEDS x FEM x TR Important?
Many programs focus on getting gender minorities into engineering but seem to fall short when it comes to retention. Our program focuses on creating a welcoming environment and laying the foundation for the mentees’ careers by empowering them with both confidence and knowledge. By the time each student has completed their mentorship, they will have assimilated full time onto their project teams while remaining in an uplifting and supportive community.

For current students
The mentorship opportunity is a chance to teach, motivate and inspire first-year students and improve the retention rate of female engineers. You will be a pivotal part of this experience by designing engineering challenges and providing feedback on the student’s work.
For Industry Professionals and Researchers
